Chaffee’s Garden Shower/Sip & See

There are far few things better in life than celebrating a dear friend and the birth of her beautiful boy.  Chaffee and I have been friends for a long time, and one thing that I know well about her is that she loves to show her close friends how special they are, but she rarely likes to be the recipient of equally thoughtful gestures.

Which is precisely why her sister Kiery and friends – Jany, Kristin, Lesley and I -collaborated behind her back to plan a surprise shower for Chaffee.

“Frogs and Snails & Puppy Dog Tails. That’s what little boys are made of.”  This was such a fun theme to plan a shower around.  Since Chaffee was expecting her 2nd son and we knew there was nothing more she loved than spending quality time with her family in their garden, we went to work planning a summer garden party for Chaffee’s baby shower.  But like many things in life, it didn’t quite go as planned.  The day before her scheduled surprise shower, Chaffee’s doctor put her on bed rest… And so we all scrambled to reschedule the shower (still without her knowing, which proved to be incredibly tricky with many out of town guests) for this Fall.

In the end, it could not have been a more perfect celebration of this very special baby and family.  Klaus John entered this world in early October and Chaffee’s dear friends and family gathered for a special Sip & See celebration to meet him.  It could not have been a more perfect day…

The details of this event were very special… I always enjoy putting together sweet events, but this has been one of my favorites.  Here are the invitation suites that went out to each of Chaffee’s guests.  They were printed on a 120lb thick card stock and the 2 inserts were bound together with a coordinating belly band.  The envelops were lined with a beautiful garden green liner and finished with fun little boy vintage stamps.  Loved the way they turned out!

Since the Sip & See included the little man, we tried to incorporate thoughtful details with his name – like these hand lettered bunting decor pieces. Love.

We hosted the event in Kiery’s backyard – the perfect backdrop for our garden themed party.

And of course, we loved seeing Chaffee surrounded by so many of her dearest friends…

The event was catered by Hannah of Zest Atlanta Catering.  They did a fabulous job incorporating fun details in their menu.  How adorable are these little puppy dogs & frog cookies?!

Our bar set up with Chaffee’s very own signature cocktail – the Baby Bellini.  It was delicious!

And one of our favorite elements of the shower was having our guests help build Baby Klaus’ library.  Everyone would choose a favorite book to dedicate to Baby Klaus, then they would take a photo of themselves and inscribe a sweet message to him.   We all had a lot of fun with this!

And how adorable are these mud pies?  Jany & Lesley woke up at the crack of dawn to make these sweet favors for our guests to take home to their little ones.  Each were filled with layers of sugary goodness!

In the end, it was the perfect celebration of this little man’s arrival and his wonderful family.  There is no amount of words or gifts that can show them how much they are loved…
